MOTS-C (Mitochondrial Open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c) is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded in mitochondrial rather than nuclear DNA. In metabolic research it is studied as a signaling molecule involved in energy homeostasis and cellular crosstalk between mitochondria and the nucleus, often described as an "exercise mimetic" in cell-culture models.
Laboratory Research Focus
MOTS-C is used in cell-culture models to examine the folate–methionine cycle and AMPK pathway activation. Researchers study its effects on glucose uptake, mitochondrial biogenesis and substrate oxidation in skeletal-muscle and adipocyte models.
- AMPK signaling Examined as an upstream modulator of AMPK activation in vitro.
- Glucose uptake Studied in skeletal-muscle and adipocyte models of substrate utilization.
- Mitochondrial biogenesis Applied in models of mitochondrial function and energy production.
MOTS-C Research Compound
Why BondPep
- Third-party analytical release Every batch runs reverse-phase HPLC with UV detection and ESI-MS identity check by an independent laboratory before it enters inventory.
- Lot records retained online Each vial links to its own batch number; the corresponding HPLC and ESI-MS record is available in the lot lookup page.
- Cold-chain handled Material is climate-controlled from receipt to dispatch, with insulated packaging for temperature-sensitive orders.
- Same-day dispatch In-stock orders leave the facility within 24 hours on business days, tracked to your destination.
Reconstitution & Storage
Reconstitute with sterile bacteriostatic water before laboratory use. Allow the diluent to reach room temperature and inject it slowly down the inner vial wall; do not shake or vortex. Roll the vial gently until the solution is clear and uniform.
Store unopened lyophilized powder at −20°C, protected from light. Once reconstituted, keep refrigerated at 2–8°C and use promptly. Handle with appropriate PPE in a certified laboratory setting.
